On
April 17th, 1994, our life changed.
That's the day my husband and I got the most precious gift, our
daughter Amanda. When she came it was the
happiest day of our life. Soon we knew she had Downs and needed a
little extra love. But we never knew how much we would get back!
Amanda has been the blessing in our
home. She is now 10 years old and in the 4th grade. She is reading
and writing. She is just like all the other girls her age. She loves
to have her girl friends over to stay the night, go to the mall and
watch movies. She is great at soccer and loves to swim. I was so
scared that when she was older that the kids would not accept her.
But you know what? It seems like every one she meets always loves
her and wants to be her best friend.
Amanda has two brothers that she loves
so much to play with and go ride bikes with. Her grandma is her best
friend. They do every thing together. She loves to read with her
grandma in bed and play with her little people.
She loves her grandpa so much. They
tease and play jokes. She calls him her bonehead, and then they
laugh and laugh about it. That's one thing that we all love, is
Amanda's laugh. She is what keeps us all going. We thank God every
day for the gift He gave to us.
She loves her daddy too. They have
their special dates to go eat or a movie. She loves that special
time with her daddy. She says he is her boy friend, and smiles from
ear to ear. Then there's her mommy (me). I think she loves me too.
We have a great time going shopping and helping me cook. So that's
all about our Amanda.
